Yet, in truth being a medium is about so much more than this, and it begins with the relationship you have with you own soul and spirit.

• It is being in constant communication with your inner world
• It is allowing your own spirit a greater voice than your ego
• It is a continual process of self healing and increasing your self awareness as this is the process of spiritual evolution

Eighteen months ago the idea for Paracon came to be and it was while having coffee and an inspired chat with Rita Maher, as we often do.  That the seed was really germinated as we outlined a speaking program including a talk on the theories of 2012.  We discussed that the speaker needed to be grounded in their approach and that an astrological viewpoint may be best.  We were however stuck on who this speaker could be.

Fast forward about nine months which by this time I had enlistened the help of Beth & Sarah from Access Paranormal, and were settling on Oran Park House as the venue as I wanted an old worldy mansion feel.  It was right in the middle of booking this venue that into my inbox came one of the most wonderful gifts.

The connection to David Wells from Most Haunted, as we know him here came through one of those monumental synchronistic moments.  Here was someone who not only had a vast experience with the paranormal, but they could also speak with authority on the astrological makeup of 2012.  And he certainly did all that with heart, integrity and a whole load of fun.

The universe provided the answers way beyond my expectations and all i needed to do was trust in the flow of how it was all unfolding and know that any risks personal or financial would be taken care of.

There were moments over the last couple of weeks seeing David connect so humbly with his fans that I often felt humbled and essentially grateful for all that had come to pass.  Yes, it was a lot of work and there were moments of frustration, worry and concern but ultimately the coming together of the paranormal community and the opportunity we all received to share in a common passion was an experience everyone involved enjoyed immensely and I believe everyone one took home something special from the experiences.

For me personally, I rejoice in the creation of an inspired idea coming into reality, filling my heart with joy, wonder as I thank Spirit, Beth & Sarah, everyone who worked hard on the day and I eagerly begin to look towards Paracon 2013.

The first is to actually become proficient at it, takes years and the second is that no matter how proficient one may become it pays to remember that we NEVER know it all.  That there is ALWAYS more to know and more information to be received from the Spirit world. This not only keeps us humble, it also keeps us striving to better mediums aiming for a high standard of quality.

This and more were the hallmarks of the teaching received on Saturday at the Modern Medium workshop with UK Medium Tony Stockwell conducted in Sydney.

Tony is a master at communicating with Spirit with his abilities far beyond the populace of most well known mediums.  Yet his humble approach and reverence for the Spirit world also has one humbling themselves in his presence.

My walk with Tony is one of student inspired by the teacher, knowing that my own mediumship benefits immensely by seeking out his teaching.  I find that immersing myself in his energy has me seeing with fresh eyes returning an excitement to my work.  While much of what Tony shares is known, I find it isa new technique here and a word of servitude there that brings a new lease of life to communicating with Spirit I haven't felt for a long time.

With renewed vigour I go forward continuing to share all that i know and am inspired with on Mediumship, only now looking forward to Tony's 2013 visit.

In the late 1990s, Anne discovered an interest in Tarot and Aura’s which lead to her ability to see colour in the aura and further study in the area of Metaphysics.  At the beginning of 2009, Anne’s interest in Mediumship began to make itself known as her learning continued to expand and evolve.

If there is one theme coming through from Spirit right now, it is to remain focussed on the light that you are.  Walk on placing one foot in front of the other continuing to create the heart centered change you so richly deserve.

Heart centered change is brought about through inspiration while being created from the deeper levels of who you are.  Circumstances may disguise this, yet if you look beyond these into the purpose you’ll find God leading the way.

Let God guide you forward by taking heed of this 3 step process on how to create heart centered change:

Step 1: Listen – Most important is to commit the time to connect with your soul self.  Hear its whispers by meditating, journaling, paying attention to your dreams and conversing with your Higher self.  Daily communion is required to enjoy the full benefit of soul centered living.

Step 2: Activate – Take action where needed.  Acting on the guidance and intuition is also must, even if its scary.  Avoiding this only leads to distress within and therefore without.  Gentle progression through difficult actions is perfectly ok, just keep moving forward.

Step 3: Healing – Heal the soul in all its beauty by gradually coming more and more into alignment with your soul self.  Take time to rest and acknowledge all that you achieved.  Reflect within and see all that you have learned and the new you, you have become.  This is the true value and purpose of the journey and how it unfolded.  And so  the process begins again as we return to Step 1.

If the beginning of 2012 is still presenting some challenges for you, then this is for you.  So, as soon as you finish reading this, stop, grab your journal and take some time to listen.
Of course, should you need some support or guidance then remember, I am only too ready to be of assistance.  Every single one of us deserves to be living a soul centered, abundant life.

                If any of these seem familiar, then I strongly       suggest you keep reading as it is highly likely that you have a child with unrecognised psychic ability and an energy that is sensitive to all that is unseen.

                The psychic child or sensitive is so very common that if you were to speak to your friends about having read this article, I guarantee you that there will be at least one other person, if not more, that will be able to relate as well.  You see, we are all born with these heightened abilities to communicate psychically and a human energy field or aura to support that.  However, as we grow and try to adjust to living in a world that is largely ignorant on the subject, slowly but surely it is shut down.

                While I now have been practicing as a psychic   medium for twelve years, as a child there were no real    experiences that stand out as quantifiably psychic.  I didn’t see dead people, nor did I have knowledge of future events.  I do however remember things like flying down the street while sleeping which is known as astral travelling and can recall my auric field moving and shifting in strange ways while trying to go to sleep, which I now recognise as the   energy of Spirit.  It is only looking back with my knowledge now that I recognise how sensitive my energies were and the effects this had on me as a child. 

I was an extremely sensitive child and quite  emotive.  My emotions were rather extreme, as they still are.  When I was up I was really up, and when I was down I was really down, with the switch from one to the other being triggered by the most unlikely events, such as not getting my favourite meal for dinner.  While you might think this just sounds spoiled, allow me to suggest an alternative.

                As a sensitive child your aura is open and receptive to all the other energies around you. Being that the world is composed of nothing but energy, check your high school text books, this means that the sensitive child is taking it all in.  Let’s think for a minute about what may be contained in those energies. 

                There are the emotions of those we live with, suppressed or not.  There are the energies of those we love and care for, living or passed, as we always carry a part of those we are       connected to.  There are the energies of the world beyond our homes: school, shopping centres, hospitals and even the energies projected by what we watch on TV, just to name a few.  A sensitive child is soaking all this up and is often overwhelmed by it.

                If there is one thing I’ve learnt working as a     psychic medium and being a mum to Nathan, who is    fourteen, and Jessica, eleven, is, that most adults struggle to understand their own emotions, yet we often expect our children to.  This is even more difficult for the psychic child, as the lines between their own emotions and that of others are blurred. 

                Left unrecognised the psychic child can become withdrawn, lonely and often confused as they struggle daily with their emotions.  This becomes more evident for the teenage sensitive and can often lead to depression.

                So, how can you determine whether your child may be a sensitive of this nature?  Over the years, guiding my own children combined with having assisted many   parents to understand what is happening to their children.  I’ve come to understand there are some commons signs to look for, which are often easily overlooked, as not every psychically sensitive child is talking to dead people or   predicting the next baby in the family.

·      Dramatic mood swings, particularly in areas with lots of people such as shopping centres, hospitals and large public events.

·      An active dream state including nightmares.  Dreams are a form of clairvoyance, the psychic ability associated with seeing.

·      Regular unexplained nausea

·      Knowledge of people and events beyond their scope of knowledgebase.  For example, talking about Grandma in detail even being able to      describe her appearance even though they’ve never met.

·      Unexplainable tiredness.

                As parents, how can we assist, guide and nurture this aspect of your child?  This can be done even if you are not psychic or may not fully understand yourself what it is to be openly sensitive in this way.

                First and foremost, it is important to acknowledge and validate for them how they are feeling.  Just because we may not be able to relate or understand it, it doesn’t make it wrong.  Your child’s perception is their reality, so let’s help them understand it.  This can be done quite    easily by just taking the time to talk with them about how they are feeling.  Get them talking and communicating about their emotions.  It’s enough just for you to listen. 

                This is where a journal can be an effective tool.  Get them to write their feelings, dreams and experiences in the journal. Just having an avenue to express it all is      extremely beneficial.  Then once you are both comfortable with this and are ready to understand where the emotions come from, whether they’d be your child’s emotions or someone else’s, living or passed.  As they write about how they feel, just begin to ask the question why they feel that way, including the question, “Is this emotion mine or  someone else’s?”  If it is someone else’s then ask, “Whose emotion is this?”

                Please remember that what they feel and express and the reasons behind it, are their reality.  There is no right or wrong here, so our task is predominantly to listen and guide where we can.

In kindergarten I was taught that the Word of God should never be questioned and to live in fear of God.  Other nuns who taught me over the years weren’t so harsh but the seed of bitterness towards my religion was deeply sown.  I went to mass every Sunday because that’s what my family did, with the exception of my mother who resented the Church’s teachings on contraception. 

As I grew up I looked for alternate views on God and the meaning of life.  I read lots of ‘New Age’ books.  Whenever my father noticed me reading such books he found a book by a Catholic author, for me to read, that pointed out why what I was learning was not true. 

My father was disappointed that I was ‘delving into the unknown’.  He said I was too impressionable.  I felt guilty for trying to find my own truth.  Don’t get me wrong, I dearly love my father. I understand that he came from a very staunch Catholic background and grew up in an era when people had less access to alternative philosophies.  I didn’t want to disappoint my dad but my search had to go on. 

The years went by; I married and had three beautiful boys.  On 20^th July 1992, I had a life changing experience.  The spirit of my daughter, who had been still born in 1978, came to visit me.  She looked like a young teenager and was so beautiful.  The experience happened while I was wide awake and increased my desire to know what life is really about, so I read even more ‘New Age’ books. 

In 1993 I began working for the Catholic Church running a library for primary school scripture teachers.  A lot of the books in the library were not religious but conveyed the same message in a way children could relate to. I also helped organise training for scripture teachers and taught scripture myself, avoiding the teachings I did not believe in.  Basically I taught the importance of loving and caring about others and taking care of the earth.  If I had been expected to focus on Catholic dogma I would have left. 

At the beginning of the 21^st century the Archbishop of Melbourne transferred to Sydney.  He had changed the curriculum taught to children in Victoria to emphasise a vengeful rather than a loving God.  I wasn’t going to wait around until the same thing happened in NSW so I applied to study for a Diploma of Community Services, Welfare, at TAFE and was accepted.  During the course I met others who were on the same spiritual journey as me.  We swapped books and exchanged our ideas on Spirituality.  It was great to have new friends to bounce ideas off. 

In the year 2000, I attended my first Mind, Body & Spirit festival, at Darling Harbour.  I felt like a child in a candy shop.  Filled with excitement and awe, I attended workshops and gathered all the information I could.  It was a whole new beginning for me.  I became aware of Mediumship and was completely enthralled by it.  What a wonderful way to help people.

From then on I went to many platforms of a well-known Medium, went to workshops and discovered that I too could learn to have Spirit speak through me.  I spent a year studying for a certificate in metaphysics, which covered many topics.   Mediumship was still very close to my heart.  Facebook was becoming very popular.  It was there that I heard about Kerri Wearing.  After attending a workshop of hers I decided that she was the teacher for me.  Kerri had learnt to be a Medium, it was not something that had come naturally to her, but that didn’t prevent her from advancing to the point where she was able to set up the Australian College of Mediumship and teach others. 

It’s been a year now and I am about to do more classes with Kerri to improve my Mediumship skills.  Who knows what direction Spirit will lead me in from here but for now I am convinced I am on the right track. I have come to the realisation that we are all a part of the Combined Consciousness which is pure love.  This is the ‘God’ I have been searching for all my life.

From the very first moment of becoming spiritually aware in March 1996 after reading The Celestine Prophecy through to today, synchronicity is and has been a large focus in my life.  I still rejoice in the excitement and wonder whenever synchronicity touches my life, and am often blown away by the synchronicistic miracles which can just occur seemingly out of nowhere.

A few months ago, I was planning the beginnings of Paracon Australia when I received an introductory email from David Wells, the UK Medium from the TV series Most Haunted.  What blew me away, was the timing.  It came in the same week, that I synchronistically came across the venue for Paracon, Oran Park House.

I often call synchronicity, God's Lighted Pathway as for me, I see each and every synchronistic event as lighting the path before me showing me the way to go.

The one thing i do know is that synchronicity flows when we are living from our heart.  Acting and living from your heart, brings about a natural energy of balance and harmony with the result a natural flow of synchronicity.  So if your life is currently bereft of synchronicity, ask the question "Am I currently living from my heart?" Even just asking this question, could bring about some change for you.

Finally, to keep the flow of synchronicity going, its important to honour the effects on your life and act accordingly.  Avoid down playing the small co-incidences and see them for what they truly are.  I am so conscious of how much effort the universe goes to bring about these events, no matter how small that I always honour the flow by taking action when called for.

Taking time to heed the call of Spirit in your life and honouring by acting are extremely important to not only keep moving you forward to the life you deserve to live, but it will also bring about an energy of gratitude which is essential to create abundance.

I'm off to honour some more synchronicity by contacting a Palmist in the UK, hoping he might contribute to the next issue of inSpirit Magazine.  To meet his protege, and then within a week to visit Sedona, AZ and meet another person connected to him, certainly indicates I need to take action.

When the inspiration of Keeping It Real came through in the planning sessions for this issue, there really was only one person who came to mind for the feature interview who could speak volumes about Keeping it Real. 

John Edward has been at the forefront of Mediumship and its evolution since 1999 when his career went international with his first television show Crossing Over with John Edward.  Each week people tuned into watch this down to earth New Yorker, while dressed in jeans deliver messages of validation and inspiration from Spirit.  Never before had the topic of Mediumship been able to reach mainstream awareness, as this everyday medium brought Mediumship into people’s living rooms.

John’s love for his work shines through even today as his courage inspires many other mediums to break down their own barriers.  Myself included.  It is with heartfelt gratitude that we are grateful for John’s time as he shares his passion with you and gives some insight into the man behind the Mediumship.

1.We know that a large part of your work as a medium is helping people through their grief, in your experience, if there is one thing people suffering grief can do to ease their pain what would that be.

the one thing I always recommend people grieving to do is to honor what they are feeling. People suppress their emotions, and repress their feelings, and they are always compounded by those grieving the same loss. A sibling doesn't just grieve their brother or sister, they are watching their parents and sometimes their grandparents mourn the loss of a child and grandchild. This compound emotional wave of grief puts people into shock, and brings out some dark sides of our psyche to deal with. The rebuilding process is key... communication is important, honoring the loss, celebrating the life, seeking appropriate counseling, and always having a strong foundation in faith to build back upon....

2.For someone that is seeking the services of a medium, what should they look for in a medium to know that they are genuine and someone with integrity.

... This is a harder question to answer today more than lets say 20 years ago. This subject matter has attracted an enormous amount of people that are 'doing' readings that in the opinion of many of my colleagues, and myself included, SHOULDN'T be doing them.   It seems that in the last quarter century as the awareness and validity of this work came about, so many people who have had losses, or made their own connections, automatically took it as a 'calling' in some way... So, i STRESS that word of mouth is the most important tool in seeking someone who does this work. But, ultimately, you want someone to provide you with VALIDATION and EVIDENCE that they are actually communicating with your loved ones, NOT giving you NEW AGE FOO FOO B.S. philosophy that they are 'ok', "love you" 'with you"... you want facts!  Facts without you having to provide them. If you are calling into a radio station for a reading or a live tv program and the medium has six seconds to try and read you, and they ask you for the relationship of the person who you want to connect with, that is different. I am more speaking of making an appointment for a sitting, session or group reading.  The Medium is there to TELL YOU ... NOT for you to TELL THEM. This is my favorite question and topic... I hate hearing the stories of people being taken advantage of by fakes, frauds, and freaks that think they can do this...

3.I believe Mediumship has evolved over history like most things, and being someone who has been instrumental in its evolution in the last 12 years, where do you think Mediumship may be evolving to in the future.

...I think these questions are the best I have been asked in a very long time. I am hoping that it will lose it's 'wow' factor and become more normal and less special. I am hoping that over a period of time, science and the world of quantum physics will help to validate this in a way to help people understand how we are all just vibrational energies either in a body or not. I hope that people will see it as a normal part of life's cycle, and it can help people to remain connected to their loved ones who crossed...

4.Mediumship is more than readings and helping people, it is a way of life.  So that our readers may gain some personal insight on what it means to be a medium, would you please tell us a little about how Spirit operates in your life on a daily basis. 

...it absolutely is a way of life.  Mediumship is just one aspect of the Universe we all live in. it is like saying eMail to me or texting... it is a mode of communication, but cannot take the place of normal human contact and verbal communication. It serves as a method of 'keeping in touch' but you can't maintain a relationship with a person SOLELY relying on it. That relationship I refer to is really one with yourself, and 'God, your Guides, your higher self, etc."  Having a relationship that is in balance is key. So living a life that you feel is empowered, and in balance in all aspects of life is how it operates for me.

5.Would you please describe some of your daily routines or techniques which you use to connect with Spirit each day?

... My daily routines are simple... it is praying the rosary and praying with intention. I was raised Catholic and that was the language I learned, and is the language i use. I say this all the time, if I was raised of the Jewish faith, I would be using Judaism as my foundation and homebase of belief.  It doesn't matter what the faith... I believe they are all a facet of the same diamond.

6.And what about connecting with your own Spirit.... this i do through meditation, prayer, the gym, writing, and doing my work. Like an athlete in any field, you have to train, and stay in your best shape. I do this through meditation and prayer... and by walking the walk and talking the talk... Whether it is my family, my kids, friends, or office...

7.Would you please share with our readers a simple technique or offer a piece of advice which would help them to communicate with Spirit.

...I can't make it simple. It actually is quite complicated. the communication with Spirit is the easy part... its the communicating with themselves that is the hardest part. Finding the time everyday to make an appointment with yourself, to know that you are important enough to 'go to the gym' 'take that walk' 'eat properly' 'meditate and pray regularly' etc., all these things to plug back into themselves. 8.Looking back what would  you say has been one of your most difficult challenges you have overcome when it comes to your Mediumship and career.

...Myself. having to get out of my own way, to alleviate my family programming, energetic programming, to embrace the opportunities the universe was helping me to achieve. I could totally see places where i could have taken a left in my journey and you would not be interviewing me at this moment...

10.You have been coming to Australia annually for quite a while now. What do you think keeps bringing you back?  

...Honestly, I love the country. I love the people. It makes me 'feel' good to be there. If it was not so far away from my actual home, I would want to live there part of the year as well. I like the straight forwardness and sense of humor of Australia, and the enthusiasm people have about life. I hope that my work is continued to be received well there so I can continue to make the journey for many years to come.

11. We?d love to see you offering workshops here in Australia. When do you think we might be able to see you here conducting some of those.... Well, I have a new book that is launching in the fall titled, INFINITEQUEST as well. It is the first time in 25 years that I have written about development. I have toyed with returning to Australia to do a workshop over the last few years, but it was never able to work out...  Maybe in 2011 we can organize that...how about this... if you put a question out to your readers, and they have interest... I will absolutely 100 percent commit to a weekend retreat or workshop down under!!!
